  • Can I go back to work after the treatment?
    As with most other dental procedures you are able to return to work following treatment.
  • Will the treatment be uncomfortable?
    Local anaesthetic is used for all root canal treatment and the procedure is as comfortable as having a filling placed.
  • What will I feel after the treatment?
    Some discomfort following root canal treatment is not unusual. This usually involves discomfort to biting and resolves after 5 to 7 days. At your appointment you will be advised on the most appropriate analgesics to take.
  • Will I need to see my dentist after root canal treatment is completed?
    Following completion of root canal treatment,  a restoration will need to be placed on the tooth by your dentist. In many instances this may involve placement of a crown. A letter will be sent to your dentist about the type of restoration that is required.
  • Is treatment always successful?
    Endodontic treatment generally has a high success rate. The prognosis for individual teeth varies and this will discussed with you during your consultation appointment.On some occasions endodontic surgery may be required to aid the healing of tissues around the tooth.
